Echoes of the Gray

A thick silence clings to the air like an impenetrable fog on forgotten ground. The world around you appears shrouded in a dark twilight. You notice the sky is the color of gloom and woe. The world around you is shattered in time. Not quite night, but nowhere near day. In fact, you are unable to determine if there\’s a sky at all. You see only a heavy dome of swirling gray.

Vague and shifting shapes loom in the distance, like memories trying to take form on a sanitized canvas. You find yourself lying on what feels like damp stone and you can feel the cold biting through your clothing.

Your body is stiff and your head throbs with a dull ache that pulses behind your eyes. A sharp and sour taste clings to your tongue. You try to recall something. Anything. A name, or a place; A reason. Despite your efforts, all that answers back is silence.

You seem to be alone.

A distant sound hums beneath your skin, drawing your attention to the horizon. You can feel something watching you. Waiting...
